Two bursts of gunfire block northern Dauphin County neighborhood

State police are warning motorists to avoid a cordoned off area in Middle Paxton Township after two bursts of shots were fired Thursday afternoon.

State police confirmed that a woman was inside the home in question and refused to come out, while police removed two family members from the home for their safety, according to WGAL .

Police are warning residents to avoid the area of ​​the 400 block of Fried Drive, according to Officer Alex Ebbert. He declined to provide further information.

A neighbor, who spoke to PennLive on condition of anonymity, said she was not home when police initially cordoned off the area around 3 p.m. Thursday, when the first shots were fired. She didn’t know if someone from the house was shooting at the police or if the police had fired.

She said police told a family member to stay in their basement because shots had been fired. She said she parked at a neighbor’s house to walk home and after she was safely inside, she heard 3 to 4 more gunshots between 5:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. hours.

The neighbor said a man and woman in their 40s lived in the house. She said a van parked in the couple’s driveway belonged to the woman’s mother. She said the two were generally quiet and kept to themselves.

The neighbor noted that the Dauphin County Coroner’s Office was also at the scene. Other neighbors posted photos on Facebook of the state police tactical armored vehicle arriving in the neighborhood around 5:30 p.m.
