“What a glorious experience it was!” I enjoyed every moment with a bunch of fabulous bakers. I learned so much from them. I never imagined I would make eleven new friends at 50. I was so out of my comfort zone. (The) technical (challenges) definitely brought back my panic during exams – apparently, you never get away with it!

“I was lucky to have wonderful family and friends. All of my pastries have been dedicated to special people and fond memories. Revisiting them has been a joy I didn’t expect. I have to mention my wonderful (and annoying!) husband Steve. Without his support, I would not have succeeded, neither in the tent nor in life itself.

“To my sister V, thank you for encouraging (intimidating) me to apply when I never would. Also a big thank you to all the production team who couldn’t do enough to help and support. Life in the tent is as good as it looks. I have no idea where this experience will take me next, but I can’t wait to find out. Goodbye for now my dizzy herrings. Take care of yourself, Gill.
