He ended up sobbing after screaming for help in the middle of the night.

Melvin was the last campmate to come out of the jungle and end his time on I’m A Celeb, but it turns out he almost left the show much earlier after suffering a complete depression.

Melvin revealed to the Mirror that he woke up “soaked” during the night and called for help while “sobbing”. He admitted: “I had my mic on and I was like, ‘Guys, I want some help.’ This guy came out like a commando…he had a light on, and he said ‘Melvin, you’re okay, come with me.’

He continued, emotionally admitting that he had seriously considered quitting but didn’t want to quit because he left first on Strictly Come Dancing. He added: “I found it difficult and I thought the finish line seemed quite far away.

“I didn’t want to let my family down. And the most similar process to this that I’ve ever done in my life was Strictly and I was the first person out, and I was aware of it in my head.

Melvin explained that he felt embarrassed crying over his campmates during I’m A Celeb because he felt everyone was so “strong” in the jungle.

He elaborated: “You have people like Oti and Alan who are really strong, and Coleen, who I don’t think shed a single tear during my time there. And I thought, “How can I sit here and cry when these guys have little babies at home and they’re holding on?” »

But ultimately what helped him get through it all were his campmates with Melvin describing how Oti came and “reminded me of his family.” He said: “When Oti came she reminded me of my family and she held my hand and I started bawling. I thought it was the worst thing ever. I was quite embarrassed.

Melvin added: “The best thing about camp was the people. Without them, I feel like I would have wanted to leave a lot sooner.

Well, now I’m going to get very emotional too.
