BEARS ARE MOVING AWAY FROM CASSADAGA VALLEY

FREWSBURG — Jadyn Trocki and Ava Jimerson combined for 16 of Frewsburg’s 26 points in the second quarter as the Bears pulled away from Cassadaga Valley for a 72-48 Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 East victory.

Jimerson finished with a game-high 22 points, along with six rebounds, four assists and three steals, while Trocki had 21 points, along with 11 rebounds, eight steals and seven assists for Frewsburg (1-0, 1-0 ). , who advanced to the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Class C finals a year ago.

The Bears led 15-9 after the first quarter before outscoring the Cougars 26-13 in the second quarter to take a 41-22 halftime lead.

Teghan Trocki had 13 points and three assists; Abery Harvey had 10 points; and Taytum Jimerson had four, six rebounds and four steals for Frewsburg.

Paige Hohl led the way with 14 points, Sarah Kruszka scored 12, Sandy Ivett scored 11 and Danielle West contributed 9 for the winners. Brooke Smith grabbed five rebounds.
