“With the addition of lithium-ion battery technology, the T12 and T16 scrubbers deliver reliable Tennant performance with significant additional benefits including extended battery life, reduced maintenance and improved machine safety. “operator,” said Dennis Collins, product portfolio director at Tennant. Lithium-ion batteries are more energy efficient, reducing energy consumption and associated greenhouse gas emissions. This offering aligns with many of our customers’ sustainability goals, helping them adopt more sustainable cleaning practices.

Equipped with high-capacity batteries, the new T12 and T16 lithium-ion models offer extended runtimes ranging from more than three to nearly six hours, surpassing the runtimes of standard lead-acid batteries. This ensures consistent cleaning performance in large spaces, giving operators the flexibility to choose the right battery option to meet their facility’s needs.

Advances align with those of Tennant Successful people. Healthy planet. sustainability framework, a commitment to achieving zero greenhouse gases in operations and the supply chain by 2040. Launched in 2023, the framework begins with the fundamental interconnection between people and the planet and provides the lens through which Tennant can set goals, align plans and integrate sustainability throughout its business. The framework encompasses six key impact areas where Tennant can create change, including climate and energy. By integrating sustainability into product design and development, Tennant continually strives to increase the energy efficiency of products to provide its customers with solutions that will reduce greenhouse gas emissions related to the use of Tennant products, helping them achieve their sustainability goals. This includes the development of products powered by lithium-ion batteries, which provide numerous operational and environmental benefits, including:

  • Improved uptime: Lithium-ion batteries allow opportunity charging; Customers can plug in the robot scrubber at any time, even if the battery is not completely discharged. This offers increased availability of the machine, without the risk of degrading the battery.

  • Simplified operations: A maintenance-free battery that does not require watering helps simplify operator training and reduces the risk of operator misuse and abuse.

  • Reduced costs: Eliminating battery watering and allowing opportunity charging helps save on operational costs. With a lifespan of 2,000 charge cycles or more, lithium-ion batteries reduce battery replacement costs.

  • Reduced environmental impact: Lithium-ion batteries provide increased energy storage efficiency, resulting in lower overall energy consumption and reduced greenhouse gas emissions.

“The addition of the lithium-ion-powered T12 and T16 scrubbers is an important step in our journey to reinvent the way the world cleans,” Collins said. “These new models support our mission to create a cleaner, safer and healthier world by enabling cleaning crews to work safer and more efficiently.

Tennant’s T12 and T16 lithium-ion scrubbers will be available for purchase on December 10, 2024. Additional information on Tennant’s battery options can be found here. To learn more about Tennant’s commitment to sustainability, click here.
