Ranking Michigan Football Assistant Coaches by Salary 2024

Ranking Michigan Football Assistant Coaches by Salary 2024

Michigan football is a blue blood, one of the best programs in the country. And in some ways, it pays off in its own right when it comes to assistant coaches.

In Sherrone Moore’s first year as head coach, he needed a talented pool of assistants, and in many ways, he got it. But with some underperformance at 7-5, the apple cart will likely be more upset than the only casualty so far, departed offensive coordinator Kirk Campbell. Michigan had a pool of $9,384,000, fifth-most in the nation. Sherrone Moore earned $6,000,000, 35th most in college football.

USA TODAY Sports revealed everything every assistant coach in college football does. Here’s how the Wolverines’ staff stacks up against each other in terms of salary.

Overall ranking: 87

Salary 2024: $950,000

Fired by Sherrone Moore last week, Campbell was the fourth-highest paid assistant despite being a marquee coach as a coordinator. While his offense wasn’t great, he also didn’t have a lot of personnel to work with.

3

Brian Jean-Mary, LB coach

Overall ranking: 52

Salary 2024: $1,155,000

An avid recruiter, Jean-Mary returned to Ann Arbor after a 3-year absence and his unit, like Martindale’s defense as a whole, did not begin to perform well until late in the season.
