Reward for tips on firebombing suspects offered after attack on family home

A newly released video on May 9 shows a devastating firebomb that remains unsolved.

Authorities are hoping to catch these criminals who threw two Molotov cocktails through the window of this Fielding Street home and set the house on fire.

Fortunately, no one was home at the time, but there was damage inside.

“They hit the window and it looked like the glass broke and they threw something in, I guess,” said neighbor Shaakira McElrath.

“You can hear his voice, look at him on fire,” Misty, another neighbor, said as she watched a video that appeared to show one of the suspects catching fire.

The victim, Asia Hunter, says her home has been in her family for 37 years on Detroit’s west side.

FOX 2: “Why would they do that to you?”

“You can only speculate as to why someone would do something so heinous and horrible,” Hunter said.

The retired air traffic controller was in the process of re-renting the house just before the attack and ultimately handing it over to her daughter.

“You’re supposed to take care of your home, that’s what you’re supposed to do,” Hunter said. “It’s even difficult to buy a house.”

FOX 2: “Are you saying the people who did this were jealous of you because you took care of your home?”

“This is what it looks like,” she said.

Detroit Police are asking for your help in identifying the suspect(s). And there is a $500 reward for information leading to their arrest.

“I’m scared to stay here, but I pray to God every day. I just have to pray for God to protect me,” Hunter said.

Asia had insurance and is in the process of making repairs.
