Man expresses regret after fireworks accident injures tourist at Loy Krathong festival in Pattaya

The user of the fireworks expresses his regrets and offers compensation.

PATTAYA, Thailand – An accident occurred during the Loy Krathong festival in Na Jomtien, when fireworks hit a 28-year-old man, identified as Mr Kak, in the left thigh. The man felt intense pain and a burning sensation, causing him to collapse to the ground, screaming for help. Emergency services rushed to the scene to intervene quickly.

The victim’s girlfriend, Ms Kik, 29, said they had celebrated Loy Krathong and were on their way home after releasing their krathongs. Halfway across the bridge, Mr Kak suddenly fell, claiming he was hit by a firework.

The man responsible for setting off the fireworks, known as Mr A (pseudonym), admitted to setting them off but was unaware that fireworks were banned at the event. He expressed his regret for the incident and assured that he would fully compensate the injured man.

Witnesses, including Mr Add, 68, said Mr A threw a round firework which spun and then flew out of control, hitting the victim and immediately causing him to fall.

According to a local police officer, the file has been forwarded to the investigator. Since this is not a direct crime, the victim will have to file a report, but the user of the firework accepted responsibility and promised to compensate the victim for their injuries.

The Sawang Rojoen Relief Foundation transferred Mr. Kak to Wat Yan Hospital for further treatment.
