Authorities are asking for the public’s help in locating family members of four people who recently died in Jefferson County.

Their bodies are ready to be released for burial, but the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has been unable to locate and notify their next of kin.

The deceased are Leslie James, 68, Patricia Ann Garrett Bailey, 68, Jaqueline Golden, 73, and Richard Stanley Skinner Sr., 74.

James was found dead Nov. 22 in the 400 block of University Boulevard in Birmingham.

Authorities said James, who they described as homeless, was discovered on a commercial property by employees. It is believed he was using the business as a temporary shelter for the night.

The cause of death is unknown, but there is no evidence of trauma or foul play.

James listed his past addresses in Gadsden and Birmingham, but is believed to be from Birmingham where he has lived for several years. He had no household or emergency contacts listed in several local government databases.

Bailey was found dead Dec. 2 in her apartment in the 1400 block of South 14th Street in Birmingham. She died of natural causes.

Police were called to carry out a welfare check at the request of a concerned employee of the delivery company, Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates said.

Those who knew Bailey report no knowledge of his family. She reportedly worked at St. Vincent Hospital in the early-mid 2000s and listed her past addresses in Kennesaw and Marietta, Georgia, and Akron, Ohio.

Golden was found dead Dec. 4 inside her home in the 5500 block of Guerdon Trace in Center Point.

Yates said the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office made the discovery when a concerned neighbor asked them to check on her.

Golden died of natural causes and listed his former address as Bessemer, Birmingham, Bremen, Cullman and Gardendale.

Richard Stanley Skinner Sr.(Contributed)

Skinner was found dead Dec. 8 at his home in the 2700 block of 31st Avenue North in Birmingham.

A concerned neighbor discovered Skinner during a welfare check.

Yates said Golden was a military veteran, but little is known about him.

He died of natural causes.

Family members are asked to call the coroner’s office at 205-930-3603.
