  1. Kailash Gahlot, who is a long-time AAP leader, is a minister in the Delhi government. He holds the portfolios of administrative reforms, transport, housing, women’s and children’s development and information technologies.

  2. He won his first election to the Delhi Legislative Assembly in February 2015, from the Najafgarh constituency.

  3. Born in 1974, Mr. Gahlot hails from Mitraun village in Najafgarh, where his family has lived for over nine generations.

  4. Mr. Gahlot is also an advocate of the Supreme Court and Delhi High Court with over 16 years of legal practice. He was elected as an executive member of the Delhi High Court Bar Association from 2005 to 2007.

  5. In 2018, Mr. Gahlot came under the scanner of the Income Tax Department (IT), which carried out searches in several premises linked to him as part of an alleged case of tax fraud.
