How to claim part of the $32 million settlement

How to claim part of the million settlement

ParkMobile, a popular parking app, has reached a $32.8 million class action settlement due to an alleged data breach in March 2021 that exposed the information of approximately 21 million users.

An August 2022 lawsuit filed in Georgia accused ParkMobile of failing to implement secure systems to protect customers’ personal data, in violation of the state’s consumer protection laws.

According to the lawsuit, the stolen information included users’ license plate numbers, dates of birth, phone numbers, email and mailing addresses, and “hashed passwords.”

Although Social Security numbers and payment cards have not been released, the plaintiffs claim they were victims of “fraudulent activity” following the data breach when people accessed their Venmo and Netflix accounts .

ParkMobile admitted to the data breach but denied all allegations of wrongdoing.

Who can qualify

According to a website dedicated to the lawsuit, approximately 21 million people in 42 states and more than 550 cities were affected by the data breach.

You are eligible for payment if you have received notice by mail or email from ParkMobile regarding the data breach or an email regarding settlement. The notice received must include an ID number and confirmation code, but you can also search for your ID on the Website.

If you believe you were affected by the violation but never received notice, you can contact the policy administrator.

How to submit a claim

You can file a complaint online using the ID and confirmation code sent by post or email. If you don’t have your login and confirmation code, you can find them here. The deadline to submit an online form is March 5, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. PST.

The form can be printed and mailed, and you can also request it to be mailed to you. Postal forms must be postmarked by March 5 to be included in the lawsuit.

How much you could receive

Of the $32.8 million settlement, $9 million was set aside for cash payments, capped at $25 per course participant. In order for the money to be mailed to you, a claim will need to be filed.

The remaining portion of the settlement goes toward $1 ParkMobile credit codes sent via email for use in the app after the claim period ends. This leaves enough to offer the approximately 21 million affected customers a $1 credit, valid for one year.

If you are a class member, the $1 credit will be automatically sent to you, whether you filed a claim or not. If you wish to exclude yourself from the credit completely, you must request to be removed from the payment by mail before February 3.

“Processing all claim forms also takes time, depending on the number of claims submitted and whether appeals are filed,” the site reads. “Please be patient.”
