“I’m human, you know” – Cole Palmer rejects common perception about him

Cole Palmer revealed that he always gets nervous even though he seems to be phased by absolutely nothing.

Palmer has been nothing short of sensational since joining Chelsea from Manchester City in the summer of 2023 in a deal worth £42.5 million.

The 22-year-old has taken the Premier League by storm and has quickly established himself as not only one of the best players in the league, but also in the world.

Palmer reveals he gets nervous

Palmer was named Premier League Young Player of the Year last season after scoring 22 goals and providing 11 assists in a memorable campaign.

The question around the England international was whether he could replicate that form this season and he made a brilliant start.

Despite more attention from the opposition, Palmer has still scored 11 goals and provided six assists in 15 games, with Enzo Maresca revealing he takes great pride in working with the striker.

Palmer gives the impression that he doesn’t feel nervous and isn’t phased by anything, as evidenced by his Panenka penalty in the win over Tottenham last Sunday.

However, Palmer revealed that despite this perception of him, he is actually human and experiences nerves like everyone else.

“Obviously I feel nervous, I’m human, you know!,” he told Chelsea’s website.

“But I don’t really feel it when I’m on the pitch. Maybe I do a little before the game, but not when the game starts.

“It’s like anything. You might feel nervous about something, but when you start doing it, you realize it’s actually not that bad.

“But I don’t really feel nervous off the field, it’s just that at times I might get nervous.”

His performances show that Palmer is not nervous when he is on the pitch and Alan Shearer said earlier this year that he looked like he was playing in a park.

Palmer will be hoping to score for the fourth league game in a row as Chelsea look to make it seven straight wins in all competitions against Brentford.
