Hannover police search for man who allegedly shot neighbor Saturday morning

Hannover district police are looking for a 39-year-old man who allegedly shot his neighbor on Saturday morning.

Police say an altercation between the man and his 34-year-old neighbor took place around 9:40 a.m. in an apartment building in the 100 block of Broadway.

During the altercation, the suspect pulled out a gun and shot the neighbor, hitting him in the upper chest, police said. The man was transported to WellSpan York Hospital with what does not appear to be a life-threatening injury.

The York County Rapid Response Team was called to the scene when police believed the suspect was in another apartment in the building. Streets around the scene were closed while police searched for the suspect.

The rapid response team cleared the apartment, Hanover Borough police said, and it was determined that the suspect had fled before police arrived.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic man, approximately 6 feet 5 inches tall, of slim build, with black hair and brown eyes. Police said he was last seen heading north on Broadway in a gray Ford F-150 extended cab truck.

Although police said they suspect this was an isolated incident, the suspect is believed to still be in possession of the weapon used in the shooting and is considered armed and dangerous.
