Sam Ward scored four goals as England moved to the top of the Pro League table with a one-sided 8-0 victory over Ireland in Argentina.

England had come back from 2-0 down to win 3-2 in a shootout when the sides met in their first meeting on Thursday, but this time they put on a penalty masterclass, converting seven of their 13 chances .

Sam Hooper scored the first of his two goals in the opening minute, with Stuart Rushmere adding a second shortly after.

Ward then got on the scoresheet with a second left in the quarter to leave England in a dominant position.

Hooper scored again early in the second quarter to leave the score 4-0 at the break before two more from Ward and a strike from Rohan Bhuhi, who collected a pass out of the backfield to beat the keeper at third, do not extend the advantage.

Ward had the last word in the fourth quarter as England ended their series at Santiago del Estero with 11 points – three ahead of Belgium, with Ireland sixth on one point.
