I won the £1.8 million lottery jackpot, but then lost EVERYTHING, including my mansion and my husband.

A DIVORCEE has revealed the “absolute hell” she experienced after winning the lottery.

Lara Griffiths, 54, won £1.8 million in the country’s first online lottery but has since lost her home, her husband and spent all the money.

Lara married Roger in 1997 after meeting at university and the couple won the lottery jackpot in October 2005.

Working as a performing arts teacher and her husband an IT manager, the two men couldn’t believe it was true.

At first, the parents of Ruby, their 22-month-old daughter, thought it was a prank after receiving an alert at 2:30 a.m.

The couple wasted no time in appearing in public shortly after the win was verified by Camelot, the operator of the National Lottery at the time.

Living the high life, Lara and Roger became regular jet-setters, quitting their jobs and jetting off to various destinations, including Dubai, Florida and France.

Back home, the overnight millionaires had moved into a converted barn for £450,000 and also bought a beauty salon.

Much like their sudden demand for money, everything came crashing down in December 2010 when their new home suffered a “catastrophic fire.”

Lara said: “The whole place burned down while I was at work, but Roger, the two kids and the dogs were inside.

“It was a nightmare. We also lost all our belongings. We didn’t even have clothes to wear. Our house burned for three days.”

The house was uninhabitable for eight months and Lara’s other daughter, Kitty, still suffers from PTSD to this day.

I won the lottery but Tesco refused to hand over money due to ridiculous policy and now I’m banned from the store.

Although she grieved the loss of their home, Lara faced another battle to overcome when her husband left her.

At the time of their divorce in December 2013, the couple was strapped for money.

To make matters even worse, Lara suffers from Crohn’s disease, which causes her weight to plummet to around six stone.

Since then, the mother of two has been forced to camp at her mother’s house, also financially dependent on her first year.

Her daughters Ruby, 20, and Kitty, 17, also live at the property which has a studio in the garden after Lara retrained as a tattoo artist.

Lara added: “I love my life now. OK, I went through some really tough times, but I don’t regret winning.”

“I regret not having this money anymore, but I intend to get it back one way or another.”
