Fans at Chase Center were treated to a familiar sight Sunday with Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson putting on a three-point shooting clinic, but this time they were doing it in opposite uniforms.

Thompson, who is now a member of the Dallas Mavericks, scored a game-high 29 points on seven three-pointers to help lead a 143-133 victory over Curry and the Golden State Warriors. Curry finished with 26 points and 10 assists, adding seven triples in the loss.

In addition to Thompson’s big night, the Mavs were led by Luka Dončić’s triple-double with 45 points, 11 rebounds and 13 assists. Dončić shot 16 of 23 from the field and also had a strong defensive performance with three steals and two blocks.

Curry was one of four Warriors players to score more than 20 points, with Andrew Wiggins leading the way with 29 points. Draymond Green added 21 points off the bench and Jonathan Kuminga had 20.

The Mavs (51.2%) and Warriors (50.0%) were incredibly efficient from beyond the arc and their combined 48 three-pointers set a new NBA record.

Thompson and Curry’s three-point barrage was the talk of social media during the Mavs’ win on Sunday:

Sunday’s game was what the Mavs envisioned when they acquired Thompson this offseason. If he can continue to shoot effectively from beyond the arc, Dallas will have a strong chance of advancing to the NBA Finals for the second time in a row.

The Mavs (17-9) will look to continue their momentum when they meet the Los Angeles Clippers (14-12) on Thursday.
