An Ed-Tech professor has gone viral for his unconventional method of explaining the concept of chirality.

The Indian education landscape is undergoing a significant transformation, driven by the emergence of educational technology (Ed-Tech) platforms. These innovative platforms are changing conventional educational approaches with their flexibility, accessibility and individualized learning features. Educational technology teachers push the boundaries of traditional teaching methods to make complex concepts more accessible and memorable for students. Some of the innovative educators spare no effort to ensure the success of their students. However, their approaches often go viral on social media, drawing both praise and amusement from users.

In the same vein, an educational technology professor in India has gone viral for his unconventional method of explaining the concept of chirality in chemistry. During a live session on Physics Wallah, the teacher used his own body to demonstrate the rotation of a molecule, leaving students and social media users amused and divided. Chirality refers to a geometric characteristic when the structure of an object cannot be superimposed on its mirror image.

The teacher was determined to help his students understand this complex concept and used an unusual solution when he struggled to demonstrate the rotation of the molecule while explaining the structure of the chemical compound. The clip shows him getting on his hands and feet and raising his legs on a chair while his palms rest on the floor. The teacher then lowers his head to the ground and begins talking to the students. As he extended his legs and demonstrated the rotation, he explained to his students: “Now imagine that my head is the group COOH. Now when I turn, my right will become left and my left will become right. »

The video of the session was posted on X, with a caption that read “absolute cinema”. As soon as the video was shared, it garnered several likes and comments from users, some praising the professor’s creativity and passion. wrote: “Activities like these keep the class lively. Sad to see people who don’t understand this criticize him. Let’s respect the teachers who care! »

Not everyone was impressed, with a few users suggesting the teacher could have used plastic models or 3D graphics to explain the concept. Others joked about the concept, where one user commented: “Either he’s very very passionate or following negative PR to get some fame.” Another said: “Aise chemistry padhta toh thode aur marks aa jaate.” »
