Rachakonda Police Commissioner Sudheer Babu on Monday denied that there was any delay in taking action against veteran actor Mohan Babu in the cases registered against him.

The commissioner told the media that the police would obey the orders of the High Court, which gave Mohan Babu time until December 24 to appear before the police.

Sudheer Babu said that if there was no response from Mohan Babu after December 24, they would serve a fresh notice.

Mohan Babu was admitted to hospital on the night of December 10 with complaints of high blood pressure and anxiety following a clash at his home in Jalpally when his actor son Manchu Manoj broke the door after being stopped by the bouncers deployed there.

Commissioner Rachakonda, who is also additional collector of the district, had summoned Mohan Babu and his sons Manchu Vishnu and Manchu Manoj on December 11 for a hearing regarding the cases against them.

Mohan Babu and his sons were booked under NBS sections 329 (4) (criminal trespass and house trespass) and 115 (2) (voluntarily causing hurt) r/w 3 (5).

Mohan Babu had approached the High Court seeking exemption from appearing before the Commissioner of Police. His two sons appeared separately before the commissioner, who pledged not to do anything that could further precipitate the matter.

The commissioner said a total of three cases have been registered regarding the dispute in Mohan Babu’s family. He revealed that investigations were into all three cases.

He clarified that the veteran lead actor did not have any firearms license under the jurisdiction of Rachakonda police station. “We received information that Mohan Babu had two weapons with him. In the notices issued to the actor, we asked Mohan Babu to drop his two weapons with him anywhere,” he said .

The veteran actor, who is also a former MP, was charged with attempted murder after grabbing a television reporter’s microphone and attacking him during the ruckus at his home on December 10.

Mohan Babu approached the Telangana High Court last week seeking anticipatory bail in an attempt to murder case. The High Court adjourned the hearing on the anticipatory bail application to December 19.

The FIR was registered following a complaint filed by Mr. Satyanarayana, a journalist with the Telangana TV9 news channel.

Mohan Babu attacked the TV journalist when the latter had visited his residence in Jalpally to cover the ongoing dispute between the veteran actor and his actor son Manchu Manoj.

The veteran actor, who apologized to the injured journalist and the TV channel, went to the hospital on Sunday and visited the journalist. He apologized again to the journalist and his family members.
