Slovenia’s employment figure hits record high in October

LJUBLJANA (dpa-AFX) – The number of people employed in Slovenia reached a record high in October, boosted by a significant increase in youth employment, preliminary data from the Statistics Office showed on Tuesday.

Employment increased 0.3 percent or 3,200 people from the previous month to total 947,800 in October. This is the highest figure since the data was monitored, the Statistics Office said. Compared to last year, this figure increased by 1.1 percent.

The number of people in paid employment increased by around 3,000 or 0.4 percent and the number of self-employed workers by around 200 or 0.2 percent in October.

The number of employed people in the 15-24 age group increased by 4.0 percent, or around 1,700 people. The Statistics Office attributes the growth in youth employment to young people entering the job market after completing their studies earlier this year.
