UGC urges colleges and universities to inform researchers and professors about new G20 talent visa

Last update:

The UGC has tasked higher education institutions to inform researchers about the new G20 talent visa.

The Interior Ministry has approved a new visa category for scientists and academics.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) has introduced the ‘G20 Talent Visa’ enabling scientists, researchers, faculty members and academics from G20 countries to visit India for projects, training and research. The University Grants Commission (UGC) has asked colleges and universities to share this information with stakeholders to promote global academic collaboration.

The G20 Talent Visa will enable international academics and researchers to participate in projects, training programs and postdoctoral fellowships, thereby promoting a dynamic exchange of ideas and innovations.

“It is informed that the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) has announced the approval of the introduction of a new category “G20 Talent Visa” under the subcategory (S-5 visa) of student visa for scientists, researchers, faculty members and scholars. Academicians from G20 countries are expected to enter India for the purpose of carrying out projects, training programs, postdoctoral research, fellowships, etc.,” the UGC said in a statement.

The notice further urges academic institutions to publicize this opportunity.

“All Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) are requested to take note and disseminate the information about G20 Talent Visa among stakeholders/faculty members/researchers/scholars,” the UGC added.
