Anshuman Jha has signed his next film opposite Australian actress Sara Hopkins titled Welcome to Agra. Directed by debutant filmmaker Ashish Dubey, the film is a quintessential old-fashioned love story between a trishaw driver and a British tourist in Agra, set at the dawn of the millennium in 2000. The director born in UP went to Chennai, helping some of the biggest names in South industry like N. Lingusamy and wants to make a classic love story in Hindi since he hails from Uttar Pradesh .

Ashish said, “Agra is the mecca of love. And I’ve been dreaming of making this film for years. It was a wish to work with Anshuman Sir since his first film LSD (Love Sex Aur Dhoka). I’m so glad he hasn’t told a love story in the last decade and this movie will showcase the pure power of true love and connection. With the symbol of love, the Taj Mahal, in the background, we sincerely hope to bring the audience back to the cinema for a pure love story. Since then, I feel like these have ceased to exist in the modern lifestyle. This film is a pure, uncluttered romance.

Anshuman added, “I believe in the power of love and how it can move mountains. And I truly believe that as an audience we haven’t really experienced a quintessential love story like that of a DDLJ (Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge) or a Jab we met over the last decade in cinema. This film tells a rare story before the days of social media and cell phones. And I’m excited to play the rickshawalla in Uttrakhand Pradesh – it was a dream to play one.

Produced by Mad Films, Welcome to Agra hits the scene in late January as Anshuman wraps up his action film Lakadbaggha 2in December before taking a break with his triathlete wife and 9-month-old daughter for Christmas.
