Fury as man cheats on wife with neighbor, then she discovers ‘child affair’

A woman discovered her partner’s infidelity with his neighbor 16 years her junior, leading to an affair with a child – and the internet rallied to her support.

Reddit user Fale_pompathy29 shared the shocking scenario in the “TrueOffMyChest” subreddit, where it garnered 8,100 upvotes.

She revealed that the woman lives next door with her grandmother, struggling to make ends meet, while the OP and her partner are well off.

“I knew my granddaughter had a crush on my husband, but I told him about my concerns, and he told me it was nothing, that he was ignoring her and if she crossed the line , he will tell her that we are doing well financially,” she said.

“She got pregnant. We never asked who the father was, but we both agreed to help her with money. They eventually moved out and sold the apartment. They moved ago 3 years old, last week I received a call from the grandmother who was crying when I heard my voice and told me that the little girl was actually my husband’s daughter. -she writes.

The family decided to move because the husband visited occasionally and acted like a father, which made them worry that the daughter would start calling him “daddy.”

“The old woman told me that her granddaughter feels extremely guilty because I was the one who helped her the most but I couldn’t call me because she was afraid of me. I went at her workplace and when she saw me she ran out the back (she works at a restaurant),” the OP explained.

The husband also secretly paid €1,500 (about $1,600) per month for the 4-year-old.

“I told my husband about this yesterday after he returned from his daily run, and he didn’t deny it,” the OP said. “He said they had an affair and the child was his. He took the paternity test. He apologized.

“I feel so lost, hurt, betrayed. I have always compared myself to this young woman. She was and is extremely beautiful. And my husband is also thin and tall, and I have gained weight. I have the feeling like you want to dig a hole and get started. I feel like a clown.

Rachel Marmor, a licensed mental health counselor at Fondation PARIS, shared her perspective on the emotional challenges of such a situation with News week.

“This is an incredibly painful situation, and it’s completely understandable that you feel lost and hurt right now,” she said in comments to the OP.

“Finding out that your husband not only had an affair, but also fathered a child with someone you helped is a profound betrayal. You are dealing with so many emotions – grief, anger, shame and confusion – and it’s okay to feel them all.

“The most important thing you can do right now is take care of yourself and not rush into important decisions.”
