Meta Unveils ‘Motivo’ AI Model Redefining Avatars With Human-Like Movements for the Metaverse: Details – Technology News

Meta has introduced a new AI model named “Motivo”. The new artificial intelligence (AI) model aims to upgrade digital avatars in the Metaverse and Web3 ecosystem.

Meta said “Motivo” is the first behavioral foundation model of its kind. The AI model is designed to optimize full-body movement control of avatars. This can possibly make the avatar’s movements more human-like and smoother.

Decoding Meta’s “Motivo”

So how does the model work? Meta Motivo uses unsupervised reinforcement learning to enable virtual avatars to perform complex tasks. This may include a list of simple gestures or complex dynamic body movements. The tech giant also claimed that the model requires no additional training. On top of that, it can also seamlessly perform tasks like goal achievement, movement tracking, and even reward optimization.

In an official blog post, Meta described Motivo as a breakthrough in AI-driven avatar control. He also pointed out that the fundamental model of AI uses a set of unlabeled movement data to learn human behaviors. It can also use it to inherit zero-shot inference capabilities to make virtual interactions more natural and smooth.

Additionally, to show the capabilities of its new AI model, Meta published an article in X (Twitter). The company shared a demo video on X (formerly Twitter), showcasing Motivo’s integration with virtual avatars. The video featured a humanoid avatar performing detailed body movements such as dynamic kicks and dancing, among others.

The roadmap ahead

So how will this AI tool contribute to the world of Metaverse. Motivo’s AI framework has the potential to improve the realism and physics of virtual avatars in metaverse platforms.

The launch of Motivo can be seen as part of Meta’s move to improve its metaverse technology. Furthermore, earlier this year, Meta introduced Hyperscape. Notably, Hyperscape is a tool used to transform 2D environments into photorealistic metaverse backgrounds using smartphone cameras.
