Man who ate only red meat and eggs for a year explains why he decided to quit after it ‘changed his life’ – Life

A man who ate only red meat and eggs for a year has revealed the reason he ditched the diet, despite praising the diet for “changing his life”.

If you’re a fan of carbs, look away now because this could be your worst nightmare.

Patrick Ensley adopted the lifestyle of a die-hard carnivore last year, alongside his wife Caitlin, after suffering from severe chronic pain and weight gain.

He decided to take drastic measures to see what it could do for his health.

Pledging to only eat red meat and eggs, the dieter revealed he started at around 300lbs, but has managed to shift 140lbs, as well as a whopping 19 inches of its size.

He said he started this diet to try to overcome his addiction to sugar and carbs.

He’s also seen a reduction in pain and says the new diet has done him a lot of good, so why stop?

Patrick documented his progress on YouTube under the name The Carnivore Couple, but shocked his subscribers by announcing he would no longer follow the strict diet.

In a video titled “Why I’m Quitting Carnivore,” he explained, “I’m now entering this maintenance phase where I’m reaching my weight goals, and I’m wondering if I should stay carnivore.”

He explained that he would give three ways his diet would change and why he could no longer call him a carnivore.

Patrick said his first reason was that he “never wanted to be a carnivore just to meet a definition”, and said he wanted to lose weight to be there for his son and twins who are on the way , as well as for his grandchildren. in the future too.

He explained, “At the end of the day, I want to do what makes my body feel better. I lost over 140 pounds by drinking coffee, eating mustard and hot sauce, which people were saying ‘it’s not carnivorous, you’re not carnivorous’, but ultimately you have to do what’s sustainable for you and helps you be consistent for a long time.”

Pat also showed off using a lot of seasoning on his steak, which apparently also isn’t allowed under the strictest definition of carnivore diet.

His second reason is: “Now that I’m at a healthy weight, I’m no longer insulin resistant and I want to add a few things to see how my body responds.”

In other words, those sweet, sugary carbs.

“I still plan to be about 95% carnivore, but I’m starting to add in low-carb fruits to see how my body reacts.” He said he couldn’t handle fruit or sugar before, but he’s reintroduced things like strawberries and blueberries into his diet.

He says he’s been able to stave off sugar cravings and feels like fruit is “good” to eat if you’re insulin sensitive and at a healthy weight.

He has also experimented with reintroducing jalapeno peppers because he believes that if they are cooked, they are OK. So he ate jalapeno poppers made with cream cheese and pork panko.

Patrick said he tried raw vegetables and got negative results.

“I always eat eggs cooked in butter with New York strips, chicken here and there, but if I want a little sweetness, I’ll eat about five strawberries,” he explained.

He now describes his diet as “animal-based” rather than carnivorous.

“I don’t want to live my life in constant restrictions. Carnivores not only changed my life, they saved it…I’m not going to be so restrictive in the future. Instead of one meal per day, I eat two meals a day.”

He says he’s had one “cheat meal” in 15 months, but he might now introduce a “cheat meal” once a month.

Patrick once again emphasized the importance of finding what works for you and sticking to it.

Always talk to a doctor before making any drastic dietary changes.
