The Congress party and some of its leaders on Wednesday received notices from social media platform X for sharing certain video clips of Union Home Minister Amit Shah on their handles.

Opposition sources said X’s communication referred to the notice he received from the Cybercrime Coordination Center of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) for the removal of content they shared, which constitutes a violation of Indian law.

In its submission to Congress, X also mentioned that it strongly believes in the freedom of speech and expression of its users through the platform.

Some MPs and Congress leaders had on Tuesday shared a video clip of Shah’s response to the debate on the journey of the 75 glorious years of the Constitution in Rajya Sabha, in which he spoke about BR Ambedkar and attacked the Opposition over the issue.

Shah held a press conference at the BJP headquarters on Wednesday to clarify his position. He alleged that Congress leaders were distorting facts and misrepresenting his comments on Ambedkar in Rajya Sabha.

The home minister claimed that the Congress launched this malicious campaign after the debate on the Constitution “established” the opposition party as “anti-Ambedkar” and “anti-reservation”.
