Drop in drug-related operations, but significant quantity of drugs seized

Mumbai: This year, Mumbai saw a drop in the number of drug-related operations compared to the previous year. However, the anti-narcotics cell of the Mumbai Police managed to seize a much larger quantity of drugs. The joint efforts of the police and the anti-narcotics unit have dealt a major blow to drug trafficking networks.

According to police sources, traffickers transported larger quantities of drugs this year. As a result, although the number of operations has decreased, the scale of seizures has increased due to the large-scale police deployment this year.

Special teams are actively working to dismantle trafficking networks and investigations into drug activity are progressing rapidly. Officials credit strict measures taken by the government and police to achieve some level of control over drug trafficking in the city.

As of November 30 last year, a total of 1,313 cases had been registered, leading to the arrest of 1,716 accused.
