Southern Water outage affects 58,000 homes around Southampton and New Forest

Southern Water has issued an update on current water supply issues.

“We have diagnosed the root cause of the problem which caused our Testwood water supply plants to shut down, causing a large-scale loss of supply to homes in parts of Southampton, Eastleigh, Romsey and New Forest.

“We have a clear plan to resolve the issue and have established an incident team. Our operations teams are working hard on this, with the aim of completing the initial phase of repair at our processing plants by tomorrow Morning.

“Then it will take some time to recharge the water network and restore supply to homes that have been affected. If this work continues according to our current plan, customers should start to see supplies restored tomorrow, “but there may be pockets where the process takes a little longer, but our plan is to have all customers back in stock before the weekend.”

The postcodes affected are SO15, SO16, SO40, SO42, SO43, SO45, SO50, SO51, SO52, SO53.
