Gaffer Amorim would have liked the star to come to him first and say: “If it was me, I’d probably speak with the manager.”

But he suggested the volatile England ace, 27, could still take on the ‘new challenge’ he wants by staying at Old Trafford.

Rashford made his stunning confession 48 hours after he and Alejandro Garnacho were left out of the squad for Sunday’s 2-1 derby win at City.

Amorim, 39, claimed the pair could return for Thursday night’s Carabao Cup quarter-final at Spurs – if they get their minds back.

But while Garnacho, 20, was with the team for the trip to London yesterday there was no sign of Rashford.

Portugal boss Amorim is apparently unhappy with the behavior of some players off the pitch.

Yet he insisted that his warning about how they ate and dressed was simply to emphasize his attention to detail on the entire team.

He added: “I don’t know how they dress, I just see them in the kit.

“And I don’t know how they eat, I don’t look at their plates, it was just to make a point.

“I can’t control that, what I can control is how I see things and take them into account. the games and training.

Man Utd boss Ruben Amorim says he has no disciplinary issues with Rashford and Garnacho

“For Marcus, for all the players, my goal is to set standards and see if they can do it and then play the games.”

Rashford stunned the Old Trafford faithful by telling Henry Winter: “I think I’m ready for a new challenge and the following measures. When I leave, there will be “no hard feelings”.

“You will not get any negative comments from me about Manchester United. This is me as a person.

“If I know a situation is already bad, I’m not going to make it worse.

“I’ve seen how other players have left in the past and I don’t want to be that person.

“When I leave, I will make a statement, and it will come from me.”

Midfielder Mason Mount, 25, was ruled out of Thursday night’s clash after re-injuring himself at City.
