Enzo Fernandez ‘split from his fiancée without warning’ despite her ‘spent her entire salary supporting him’ as £107m Chelsea star continues with ex-girlfriend of Formula 1 star

Enzo Fernandez’s ex-fiancee Valentina Cervantes has opened up about her breakup with the Chelsea star.

It comes after Fernandez, 23, split from childhood love Cervantes to live alone – although they have a daughter and son together.

Cervantes followed Fernandez to Benfica when he joined the club in 2022, then moved to London when he signed for Chelsea in a deal worth £107million last January.

But just over 18 months later, the couple decided to separate.

The Chelsea star has enjoyed good form since his split from Cervantes, who has since returned to live with his family, before opening up about the relationship.

In a recent interview with Paparazzi, she said: “Everything was going well and suddenly one day he told me he didn’t want to be (with me) anymore. There are things I still need to deal with, but That’s it, I accepted it.

“When we met, I was working in an empanada restaurant and studying law. He was at River Plate and then played in the reserve team. When we moved in together, I changed jobs to work in a call center near the Obelisk.

“At that time, I was earning more than his representative gave him, we were spending all my salary, I had nothing left to save. And after 9 months I got pregnant with Olivia, I was 19 years old.

When asked if she was still in love with the Chelsea star, she replied: “I think the love is still there because it’s very difficult for him to leave so quickly.

“I don’t depend on any man or anyone to be happy. In the company of my children, I will always be happy.

Since their split, Fernandez has enjoyed a dramatic improvement in form for the west London side and has returned to the starting line-up – providing three goals and eight assists in his 20 appearances for the Blues.

Cervantes also revealed in the same interview that she reunited Fernandez with their two children – Olivia and Benjamin – for the first time since their split.

“It only took a few days, so luckily they were able to be with their dad and I was with them too, so it was great,” she told Minuto Uno.

Cervantes first broke her silence on the issue a month later, when she appeared on the Argentine television show LAM, sharing that her past as a child of separated parents had shaped her perspective of maturity.

“Everyone takes it and goes through different processes, I tried to go for the healthier side,” Cervantes told journalist Alejandro Castelo. “I love Enzo, I will never disrespect him.

“He is a person who has accompanied me for many years and I have also accompanied him, and I will continue to accompany him.”

Adding that she was “comfortable” with her current single status, Cervantes explained that the breakup nonetheless came as “a surprise.”

“There (could) be weariness on his part, but that hasn’t happened on my part,” she added.

“What he has been doing since the day we separated is his life. I’m not going to get involved and I’m going to respect the woman he chooses, as long as my kids agree.

“As I respect him, I would respect the woman he chooses to have by his side.”

Announcing the end of their relationship in October, Cervantes wrote on Instagram: “With Enzo today we say distance from each other. But we will always be family and we will support each other through everything. Because that there are two children in the middle who need a lot of our love for them.

“I know the person and the excellent father Enzo, and the heart he has. And that’s enough for me. They don’t want to create wars where there aren’t any.

Since their split, rumors began circulating that Fernandez is now dating Argentine rapper-singer Nicki Nicole.

Neither Nicole nor Fernandez have yet commented on the allegedly budding romance, but according to La Nacion, the two met in late October at the Moby Dick nightclub in Buenos Aires.

Fernandez reportedly split from Cervantes before his relationship with Nicole began, but the two were filmed talking at the nightclub on TikTok – although shortly after the video went viral, Nicole shared a comment saying she attended the party with “the person (she’s) currently dating.”

According to the media, Nicole – who has 22.6 million followers on Instagram – has previously dated Formula 1 hopeful Franco Colapinto.
