WASHINGTON CO. OFFICIALS WILL BE SWORN TO NEW CONDITIONS JAN. 1 – KWHI.com

New and returning Washington County elected officials will be sworn in on New Year’s Day.

Washington County commissioners will hold a special meeting that morning at 9 a.m. in the district courtroom at the Washington County Courthouse, where they will administer the oath of office to new officials resulting from the 2024 elections. They will also honors outgoing officials for their years of service to the county.

Several new faces will soon lead county government. Among them will be Trey Holleway, who will succeed Otto Hanak as sheriff. Holleway defeated David Blakey in the March Republican primary and was unopposed in the November general election.

Derek Estep will begin his term as district attorney, filling Julie Renken’s position. Estep defeated Dave Bunger in the Republican primary and had no opponent in November.

For Precinct 1 County Commissioner, Misti Hartstack Corn will join the commissioners court. Hartstack Corn defeated Don Koester in the Republican primary and was uncontested in November.

Brad Kuecker will be sworn in as Precinct 3 Police Officer, a position formerly held by David Blakey before he resigned to run for sheriff. Kuecker defeated Damon Wegner in the Republican primary and ran unopposed in the fall.

Precinct 3 Commissioner Kirk Hanath will be sworn in for another term after defeating Billy Ruemke in the Republican primary. Hanath has served on the court since 2004.

The new civil servants who encountered no opposition in March and November will number 335.th District Court Judge John Winkelmann, succeeding Reva Towslee Corbett, and Precinct 2 Constable Seth Klehm, are replacing Trey Holleway as he assumes the role of sheriff.

Five poll officials who were not challenged in the spring and fall elections will be sworn in.
