Fenerbahce coach Jose Mourinho criticized his team’s “poor performance” and overall quality of football during the 1-1 draw against Eyupspor on Friday evening.

The home side took the lead in the 26th minute before Youssef En-Nesyri equalized in first-half stoppage time.

Mourinho’s side failed to find a winner in the second half and as a result lost ground to Galatasaray, who are now five points ahead with a game in hand.

The former Chelsea and Real Madrid coach did not mince his words after the match, targeting the quality of the football presented and the performance of his team.

He said: “It was a disaster. How much of the match was played, how many stoppages were there during the match, how long were the players on the ground?

“This has happened several times. The quality of the match was therefore low. There were also numerous technical errors. There were many technical errors. For me it was a weak and low quality match.

Jose Mourinho criticized his team for their performance on Friday night and criticized the quality of the performance.

Fenerbahce have fallen five points behind rival and leader Galatasaray, who still have a game in hand

“I am not responsible for the poor quality of the match, I am responsible for my own team, and my team also showed a poor performance today. We made a lot of technical errors individually.

“It was difficult for us to hold and turn the ball. We made a lot of mistakes in the game. We were much better in the second half, we created positions, we used the edges better. Even If I wouldn’t say clear positions, we took positions. Some of our ball losses also gave the opponent an opportunity.

“It gave them the opportunity to counterattack. It was a weak match, a weak performance from us.

Mourinho has come under pressure this season due to his methods at the Istanbul club, while results have begun to deteriorate opinion of him.

Turkish Super Lig clubs will now benefit from a winter break and will play their next domestic matches from January 5.

The Portuguese insisted that this leave would be unfortunate for him.

He added: “We will have a few days off but it will not be a happy rest period for me. What will happen to the players depends on their own mentality. But it won’t be a happy rest period for me. Actually, I would prefer not to have this rest period but we promised the players this for a long time.

“Many players couldn’t take more than 10 days off. So it was an important situation for them to rest. We will continue to work very hard during the second period of this 2 week break. I want my players to believe in the pragmatism of football. What is this? It’s mathematics. ‘

“Mathematics determines where you will be. We have to fight mathematically regardless of the results of your other opponents. Everyone deserves more; the fans, the management… Therefore, the players must also give more.
