Commissioner Jordan Johnson sworn in for second term

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – Augusta Commissioner Jordan Johnson was sworn in for a second term Friday at the May Park Community Center.

We spoke with Johnson, who says he’s looking forward to the next four years and continuing the work he started with his district and the city.

Addressing homelessness is a priority for him and improving the Riverwalk and downtown.

“I’m not even following it from an attraction standpoint. What is Augusta doing to support our citizens? How do we support our infrastructure? How do we support the finesse of our community? That’s what I say when I reinvent Augusta. I’m not just looking for the leaders of Augusta, but also the people who live here and call Augusta home,” Johnson said.

Also Friday, Eugene “Gino” Brantley sworn in during an inauguration ceremony as the new sheriff of Augusta-Richmond County.

On Monday, Commissioner-elect Don Clark will be sworn in.

He will serve in Bobby William’s current District 5.
