Details of Barcelona’s historic deal with Nike ahead of General Assembly to ratify deal

Barcelona reached an agreement with Nike on a new contract after months of disagreement earlier this year and the new terms of the deal saw the Catalans secure better financial terms.

However, the next step after the formal conclusion of the agreement is the ratification of the agreement by the members of the club and the board of directors has therefore convened an extraordinary general meeting for this purpose.

As revealed earlier this month, the special meeting is scheduled for tomorrow and will be held at 11 a.m. The only topic on the agenda is the approval of the new agreement.

Confidentiality will be maintained

Barcelona’s statutes stipulate that any external sponsorship attracted by the club must be discussed and ratified by the members of the assembly.

However, SPORT reveals that Barcelona will not be able to reveal details of the deal tomorrow due to confidentiality reasons.

All we know is that the contract includes three parts: a renewal bonus, a fixed sponsorship each year and a variable sun which depends on the titles won.

Contract details

In addition, the contract will improve from year to year by between 10 and 15% in order to adjust for inflation. Notably, the men’s and women’s teams will receive the same incentives for the titles.

In total, Barcelona can receive up to €1.7 billion between now and 2038, with the signing bonus estimated at around €150 million – which will be prorated over 14 years.

It should also be noted that the contract until 2028 will improve annually by almost 45 million euros while it will improve by 60 million euros from 2028 to 2038.

The information so far is known through leaks, but nothing else will be revealed during the talks tomorrow and ratification must take place anyway.

After all, Barcelona need the deal to be approved for La Liga to officially take notice and help them get closer to the 1:1 rule at the earliest.
