O’Rourke shares ‘big’ update today

Patrick Bamford is set to leave Leeds United in the summer transfer window, sources told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider Inside Track Podcastsenior correspondent Pete O’Rourke has revealed his “big” salaries pose a “problem” for any potential changes in the January window.

The 31-year-old is not expected to leave Elland Road until the end of the season, when a ‘parting of the ways’ is expected to take place between them, ending his seven-year stay at the Yorkshire giants.

Bamford has not started a Championship game this season after falling down the pecking order, but he remains a big problem at Leeds.

The former England international has been linked with a move to Wrexham as the US-backed League One side have major ambitions and aspirations.

However, well-placed sources said Soccer Insider that Bamford is probably out of the Welsh club’s price range unless he competes in the Championship next season.

Patrick Bamford’s future could be away from Leeds United

Another option for Bamford could be to play abroad, with Genoa also monitoring his situation at the moment.

The Italian team has just made another buyout and could have the financial means to recruit someone of Bamford’s experience and quality.

However, Genoa are also not expected to make a move for Leeds in January and any move there would take place next summer.

Bamford is contracted to the Yorkshire giants until 2026 and the next step in his career will be up to him.

Football Insider revealed that the striker wants to leave Elland Road at the end of this season as he wants more regular playing time.

Bamford is yet to open his account for the season but has played just 192 minutes in nine appearances in all competitions.
