Latest strange sighting of missing tourist, 28, shows him ‘running for his life’ before disappearing into Bulgarian woods on holiday

THIS is chilling footage of a tourist’s final moments as he was seen walking out of an airport and throwing away his belongings before disappearing.

Lars Mittank from Berlin, Germany, has been missing for more than a decade after he was last seen fearing for his life while on vacation in Bulgaria in July 2014.

The 28-year-old was last seen in chilling footage from Varna airport, where he was due to return home.

The German tourist was on his first foreign holiday and CCTV footage showed him calmly strolling through the airport in a bright yellow t-shirt at the end of the trip.

But moments later, he was screaming for death and ran in the opposite direction, never to be seen again.

“I don’t want to die here! I have to get out of here,” he allegedly told airport doctor Dr. Kosta Kostov after being told he was fit to fly, according to the Daily Mail.

These are believed to be his last words with Kostov describing his patient as “nervous and erratic”.

Moments later, Lars was seen running out of the airport in panic, as other shocked travelers looked on.

He ran out of the building and across the parking lot before climbing a two-meter fence.

Panicked, he left his bag and phone behind and landed in a field near the A2 national road where he continued running until he disappeared.

All that is known about his time in Bulgaria is that he got into a fight with football fans at a McDonald’s, resulting in a perforated eardrum and possible concussion.

His friends said at the time that he had started taking strong medication before his flight home, after seeing a local doctor.

They had all stayed at the Viva Club hotel in the Golden Sands resort for their week-long trip.

Due to his injury, Lars’ friends were able to return home on July 7 while he had to wait due to pressure changes in the cabin which reportedly injured his eardrum.

After his friends left, Lars checked into the Color Hotel in Varna to recuperate before heading home.

This is where another bizarre twist in the case occurred.

The 28-year-old frantically called his mother, Sandra, in blind panic, claiming he was being followed by four men who were trying to kill him.

He asked Sandra to cancel her bank cards because he believed the details had been copied when she checked into the hotel.

She told a German media outlet: “I thought, my God, my son is in danger.

“I could hear his heart beating on the phone. He said people were trying to rob him or kill him.”

Lars only spoke to his mother in a low voice, telling her that he didn’t feel safe and that the hotel was “strange.”

In a text message, he asked his mother about the medication he had been given for his injuries.

Hotel surveillance video allegedly showed him pacing the hotel lobby, hiding in an elevator and peering out windows.

But no other people were seen acting strangely or following the tourist.

Lars’ erratic and bizarre behavior gave rise to rumors of mental illness and drug addiction, but he had no history of that, according to family and friends.

The day before he disappeared, he reportedly left the hotel at 1 a.m. and went to an unknown location for about an hour before returning.

The next day, July 8, Sandra received a text message from her son saying he was at the airport and was going to try to get home.

She bought him a bus ticket and sent him 500 euros which he never withdrew, but he was seen arriving at Varna airport by taxi where he then saw the doctor and disappeared.

Dr Kostov claimed that Lars had doubts about the medication he had been given and when it was suggested that he had had a psychotic reaction to his medication, Kostov said that was not possible.

Lars apparently never filled his prescription.

With the police investigation into her disappearance reaching no conclusions, online detectives looked into the case, focusing largely on her final moments captured on CCTV.

Lars’ mother continues to hope that new information will be found about what happened to her son.
