Ruben Amorim admitted his Man United side buckled under pressure against Bournemouth on Sunday afternoon.

The Red Devils sought back-to-back Premier League wins following a 2-1 derby elimination of rivals Man City last week, but suffered a humiliating defeat at Old Trafford.

Goals from Dean Huijsen, Justin Kluivert and Antoine Semenyo capped a convincing 3-0 victory for Bournemouth.

Amorim suggested the worst was yet to come, saying his team “should still suffer”, speaking after the match.

“This match was tough for us. We struggled again at set pieces and we were a bit nervous, I felt it in the stadium,” he told Sky Sports.

“The penalty and another goal are really tough here. We tried to score a few goals but it was a difficult game so let’s move on.

Man United now languish in 13th place in the Premier League table, nine points behind the top four.

With this victory, Bournemouth overtook Man City in the table to move up to fifth place.

“If you look at the match, we didn’t concede anything before the first goal, we had chances. If we manage to score the first goal, the game should be different. We want to score but we are too nervous. We have to fight against this.

“After the penalty we have to control the game better because we know this situation is really difficult. We have to control this moment better.

“We have to focus on the work and not on how it feels in the stadium. It’s the only way I know to concentrate my players.

“We still have to suffer but we will try to win. We will do it until the end.

United have conceded three goals at home in the Premier League for the fourth time this season following Sunday’s defeat.

Amorim’s men sit 13th in the table, nine points behind fourth-placed Nottingham Forest, who occupy the final Champions League qualifying spot.

They will travel to relegation-troubled Wolves on Boxing Day, hoping to turn around their troubled form.
