His last contact with his family was reportedly a “painful” phone call that same afternoon.

The father-of-two then missed his flight back to Belfast on Wednesday, sparking serious concerns.

In an emotional update on Facebook today, his sister Courtney George wrote: “Another day where I wake up hoping what’s happening is a nightmare but realizing it’s real life. Panic sets in!

“Another day of no contact from John, that would never happen, day 8 and no response. I am strong for my children because it is Christmas in a few days.

Disappeared in Benidorm: have you seen John Hardy?

“Only for them, because honestly, I don’t care about Christmas, I would happily throw my tree in the trash right now.”

She added: “What is Christmas without family? My big brother didn’t just disappear! This doesn’t happen!

“Someone knows something and I want answers now…I will never give this up, this will never be forgotten, his name is John George and I will make sure the world hears it!”

A message posted online by relatives this week revealed John’s last contact with his family was a “very distressed” phone call.

The message read: “John Hardy, also known as John George (Georgia), aged 36, from Belfast, arrived in Benidorm on Saturday 14th to visit a friend.

“He had last contact on Saturday with a phone call and was very distressed. No contact since and his phone is dead.

“He has distinctive tattoos covering much of his body with the name GEORGIA. The family is really worried because he missed his flight home… The police and hospitals have been contacted.

Another message from a relative read: “Anyone who sees John, can you contact him at home.

“He left Alicante for Benidorm five days ago and no one has heard from him… we would just like to know he is okay.”
