Wicket-keeper batter Sanju Samson did not make Kerala’s squad for the Vijay Hazare Trophy, sparking a big controversy. Samson, who recently emerged as the opening batter for the Indian T20I team, was not part of the state camp, prompting the selectors to omit his name from the VHT squad. Although some reports suggested that Samson had an injury, preventing him from being available for the camp, his absence from the domestic 50-over tournament could harm his selection for the ICC Champions Trophy. Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra feels that it would be difficult for the Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee to pick him since he is not playing in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

After the retirement of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, Samson has arguably sealed his place as the opening batter of the Indian T20I team. But Chopra feels that the wicketkeeper-batter should also push for a place in the Indian ODI team, especially since Rishabh Pant has not been as consistent as he would have liked.

“Let’s talk about Sanju Samson because his name is not in the Vijay Hazare Trophy at all. You might be thinking what happened: he didn’t go to Wayanad, didn’t attend the camp, so Kerala said they will not select him Some fan pages reported that Sanju also informed that he will not be able to come as he has a leg injury,” Chopra said in a video on his channel. YouTube.

With Samson not part of Kerala’s squad for the Vijay Hazare Trophy, Chopra wonders if he would even be considered for selection for the Champions Trophy.

“However, they did not select him. It is important for Sanju to play Vijay Hazare. When you score three centuries in T20Is, even ODIs should be in your thoughts. Why not there too because Rishabh Pant is not not yet established? However, for that he had to play the Vijay Hazare How are you going to be selected for the Champions Trophy?
