Bollywood is a tough industry to break into, especially for aspiring actors. Every year, many newcomers stand out and only a few manage to establish themselves and sustain their careers. Some actors, despite successful debuts, disappear from the big screens for various reasons. One such real-life story is that of the model actress Yukta Mookhey.

Yukta Mookhey’s Bollywood journey

In 1999, Yukta won the title of Miss World. After three years, she got an opportunity to work in Bollywood. She made her debut with the film Pyaasa opposite Aftab Shivdasani. She rose to fame in her very first film, but the journey that followed wasn’t very memorable. Some of his films like Kab Kyon Kahan And Hum teen was shelved, while other films like Walk And Insaaf Justiceshe went out. Yukta even did few regional films, but failed to find success in them either. After a gap of nine years, the former beauty queen was seen opposite Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor in Good Newz, which released in 2019. Despite her short role, the film did huge business at the box office.

Yukta Mookhey’s Toxic Marriage

Yukta has also faced many ups and downs in her personal life. In 2008, she married New York-based businessman and financial consultant Prince Tuli. The wedding took place on November 2, in a traditional Sikh ceremony. Shortly after their marriage, they both had a son. But unfortunately, their marriage did not last long; and in 2013, the actress broke up her relationship with her husband.

According to reports, the actress has filed a complaint against her husband for torturing and beating her. She made serious allegations against him for sexual harassment. Yukta also accused her in the laws of subjecting her to domestic violence. The report quotes an officer from Amboli police station as saying: “In her complaint, Mookhey claimed that she was often beaten and disturbed by her husband Prince Tuli. An FIR was registered under Section 498A (cruelty and harassment) and Section 377 (unnatural sex) of the Indian Penal Code after her complaint. After these incidents, the actress filed for divorce and separated from her husband in 2014.

Where is Yukta Mookhey now?

Yukta currently lives in India with her son. She is now a single mother. She stopped acting and now works as a social activist. Yukta runs awareness campaigns against HIV/AIDS, breast cancer and thalassemia.
