Fremont prepares for New Year’s celebration

Front Street in Fremont proves to be the perfect place for New Year’s Eve with live bands and the night ending with fireworks.

Kristie Bilger, director of downtown Fremont, said that to change up the event, which is in its seventh year, organizers added more bands throughout the evening and a 10-minute fireworks display at midnight.

Weather permitting, there should be a large crowd spread across the city center.

“There’s probably between 7,000 and 8,000…and it’s pretty spread out,” Bilger said.

Visitors can also frequent downtown restaurants and businesses.

This year’s New Year’s Eve celebration will take place in downtown Fremont at Front Street State and the Fremont Community Amphitheater.

The seventh annual New Year’s Eve celebration in downtown Fremont, Ohio, will be centered on the Front Street Stage and at the Fremont Community Amphitheater.

Science Dad and Whiskey Gypsy take over the Front Street stage

Starting at 8 p.m. on Dec. 31, entertainment will take place on Front Street in front of MoonShine Nightclub, 109 S. Front St., and at the Downtown Fremont Community Amphitheater, 209 S. Arch St.

Science Dad will perform from 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on the Front Street Stage. It’s a fun “melting pot” of Toledo talent ready to play and cover rock classics through today’s hits.

Whiskey Gypsy will perform from 10 p.m. to 11:45 p.m. They are a five-piece modern party-rock-country cover band led by two female singers. They play a variety of dance and party music spanning decades, from the 1960s to today.

The music stops on Front Street at 11:45 p.m. as visitors make their way to the amphitheater in time for midnight.

And on the stage of the Fremont Community Amphitheater

Pop’s Garage, a five-piece Top 40 band, will play from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Fremont Community Amphitheater.

56 Daze will play Fremont Community Amphitheater from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. 56 Daze is an energetic band that will fill the dance floor, playing live renditions of their favorite hits across multiple genres and decades.

The finale to be hosted in 2025 at midnight will be a fireworks display over the city center.

Bilger said the fireworks would be set off near the river wall near Share and Care. The store will be closed to the public that evening.

Live entertainment was part of the fun of the 2023 New Year’s Eve party in downtown Fremont. The groups will be back this year to rock in 2025.

Fireworks can be seen from Front Street and the amphitheater

Families will be able to view the fireworks, which will go off regardless of weather conditions, from the Fremont Community Amphitheater and the Front Street area.

In addition to music, businesses will be open and offering entertainment and specials at their locations, including MoonShine Nightclub, The Garrison, Scarpetta’s, Elroy’s Deli Market, Live Edge Center and Down Thyme Café.

Sponsorship from the City of Fremont, Moonshine Entertainment, Crown Battery, Style Crest and ProMedica Memorial Hospital helped bring the event to downtown Fremont, but additional sponsorship would be appreciated.
