A 33-year-old man has died after being found injured in the area.

Mr Lucas was found seriously injured in Stirling Street shortly before 3am.

It is believed that responding police officers provided emergency aid to Jamie before he was placed in an ambulance and taken to Glasgow Hospital, where he died a short time later.

McLachlan, from Airdrie, made no plea when he appeared at the town’s sheriff court today.

He was charged with murder and allegedly carrying a bladed or pointed weapon in a public place.

The 21-year-old also faces a third charge of threatening or abusive behavior.

McLachlan was referred for further examination and was taken into custody.

He will be back in court within the next eight days.

Officers investigating the alleged murder cordoned off much of the city center on Sunday.

Detectives gathered CCTV cameras and forensic officers were seen scouring the street.

Uniformed police officers stood guard outside a nearby nightclub on Graham Street.
