Watch terrifying moment fireworks launch from huge house fire as firefighters battle inferno

SHOCKING footage shows the moment firefighters battled a raging blaze which sent fireworks into the night sky, destroying two homes just days before Christmas.

Spencer, a town in Massachusetts, was rocked Sunday when two homes were destroyed and a third damaged in a fire that gave responders pause.

No injuries were reported in the incident but two families “lost everything,” Spencer Fire and Emergency Services said.

The inferno was reported at 4 p.m. the day before Christmas Eve.

But first responders faced major problems fighting the fire, ranging from ice to limited hydrants to explosives.

The raging fire lit up the street, with firefighters surrounding the property as fireworks exploded around them.

From another angle, the wooden property with an American flag outside had thick black smoke billowing from the destroyed roof as a firefighter looked on.

Some staff members were forced to duck and cover as fireworks continued to explode and the fire spread to surrounding trees and properties.

Several firefighters battled the fire while noises and explosions were heard in the distance.

Two firefighters fell through the ice during the incident as they desperately tried to fetch water from a nearby pond.

The emergency response was somewhat delayed due to the lack of fire hydrants in the area, with 85 percent of the community without hydrants, forcing firefighters to think on their feet.

Firefighters confirmed that those who fell into the icy water were not injured.

A huge fire engulfs homes on a residential street, leaving charred ruins as firefighters battle to put out the flames.

Oakham firefighters, who were also present at the fire, released a statement about the incident on Facebook.

The fire service said: “Last night Oakham Fire and several mutual aid services responded to Spencer for this multi-alarm fire.

“Oakham Engine 2 powered the first planned engines with the help of numerous tankers.

“While the engine driver provided water, the Oakham crew of Engine 2 battled the icy conditions, setting off fireworks and evacuating propane tanks while working alongside Rutland members in the ‘one of the exhibition buildings.’

Spencer Fire Chief Robert Parsons told NBC News: “They had a lot of propane tanks in the basement exploding and they had a lot of fireworks in the house shooting at us as we We were trying to fight the fire.”

My neighbor called me and told me my house was on fire and I had to go home.

He added that if there had been stronger winds, the situation could have been much worse.

“We might have lost more homes if the wind had blown the other way, we probably would have lost that house on the other side,” the fire chief said.

A neighbor commented on the post thanking emergency workers for their help.

“Thank you for saving the rest of the houses on the street. It was terrible with all the explosions and how quickly they happened,” said George Mka.

He added that Robert, the owner of one of the destroyed houses, was a widower and had lived at the property with his late wife “for many years”.

Robert reportedly lives with his family who live on the same street and who have received support from the Red Cross.

His neighbor Justin Peck, whose house also caught fire and was destroyed, was visiting his wife at a nearby hospital at the time.

Fortunately, the couple’s dog escaped the house unharmed.

He said: “My neighbor called me and told me my house was on fire and I had to go home.

“It really sucks for the holidays. The memories that are gone from homes and can’t come back.”

But Parsons believes some of the contents of Peck’s house might be salvageable.

“Looking inside, it looks like there will be some things they can take out of the house so they don’t lose everything that was in the house,” the chief said.

The third property affected by the fire only suffered exterior damage.

An investigation has been opened into the causes of the fire.
