NFL Christmas Day Pick, Best Bet

NFL Christmas Day Pick, Best Bet

Kansas City has won 19 of its last 20 games, but everyone still wants to doubt the back-to-back defending Super Bowl champions.

The Chiefs are 13-1 this season but 7-8 against the spread. However, they have covered two in a row after not beating the spread in their previous six games.

There may have been an overcorrection of the odds.

The Chiefs are in great shape, as FTN’s Aaron Schatz says his defense-over-average-adjusted (DVOA) stat tells Andy Reid’s group is playing some of its best ball of the season .

Their last three games (against the Chargers, at the Browns, against the Texans) are the highest performances of the season in terms of DVOA.

Maybe they’re just getting healthy at the right time, since Marquise “Hollywood” Brown and Isiah Pacheco are back from injury.

Chiefs vs. Steelers Prediction

Wednesday, December 25, 1 p.m. ET, Netflix

Patrick Mahomes is getting some of his weapons back, and rookie wide receiver Xavier Worthy is starting to turn the corner as one of Mahomes’ favorite targets.

The Chiefs offense is starting to turn things around after ranking 24th in yards per play this season (5.1).

Meanwhile, the Steelers are expected to get wide receiver George Pickens back, who appears to be the linchpin of Pittsburgh’s offense.

The two teams facing each other on Christmas Day have the same average yards per play on offense (5.1), while the Steelers have a slightly higher average yards per play on defense (5.4).

The Steelers are ranked No. 10 in DVOA, compared to No. 7 for the Chiefs.
