29 people in pickup injured in crash near Jam Gate | Indore News

Khargone: Twenty-nine people were injured on Wednesday evening when a pick-up truck carrying workers overturned near Jam Gate in Mandaleshwar Police Khargone district station area.
Khargone Police Commissioner Dharmaraj Meena said a vehicle returning with laborers overturned near Jam Gate on Wednesday evening. It is possible that the vehicle’s brakes failed and instead of turning the vehicle into the ditch, the driver cleverly hit the ramp in the opposite direction. As a result, the vehicle broke the ramp and overturned onto the driver’s side.
Meena said there was a deep and sloppy ditch in the opposite direction and if the vehicle overturned to that side, there was a possibility of a major accident.
The SP was conducting a tour of the area and happened to be near Jam Gate at the time of the accident. He said the police station in charge of Mandaleshwar was informed about the accident and asked to send an ambulance immediately. At first, a small ambulance arrived, then 108 vehicles arrived, and later, six more ambulances arrived at the scene. To ensure that the injured were treated in time, a vehicle was stopped and its passengers were asked to get out. The injured were then sent to CHC Mandleshwar in this vehicle.
With the help of his gunman and driver, the SP took two injured women in his vehicle and reached CHC Mandleshwar. Meanwhile, the group of bikers from Mandleshwar police station also arrived, he added.
Meena said the laborers went to the fields near Choral from Budhri and Ramgarh area to harvest potatoes and onions and were returning home. Young children and women were also in the pickup, he added.
Deepak Yadav, in-charge of Mandaleshwar police station, told TOI that 29 people were injured in the accident, two of whom suffered fractures. He said everyone was out of danger. A case is being registered against the vehicle owner, contractor and driver for carrying passengers in a goods vehicle, Yadav added.
