Does the Cobra FF33 hose need 33 adjustments? What a designer says

Cobra’s revolutionary new FutureFit33 technology has created the most adjustable golf club shaft ever.

Cobra gave gear enthusiasts an early Christmas when the OEM dropped its 2025 product line ahead of schedule with the release of DS-ADAPT in December.

By far the most revolutionary innovation in DS-ADAPT fairway woods and hybrids was the FutureFit33 (FF33) shaft which features 33 different settings to adjust the lie and loft of the club head to accommodate all needs of the golfer. DS-ADAPT clubs can be adjusted plus or minus two degrees with loft and lie angle while maintaining a square clubface.

But with so many options, one has to wonder if 33 settings are excessive or if many settings are intimidating to the average golfer, the vast majority of whom don’t use their driver’s adjustable settings.

On a recent episode of Fully Equipped with GOLF, Cobra VP of Architecture Jose Miraflor explained to co-hosts Kris McCormack and Wadeh Maroun that a player will actually only try a few adjustments before settling. lock on the one that suits it.

“Once you find out which quadrant you’re lacking in, you go for the opposite quadrant,” Moraflor said, referring to the settings table that can be viewed with a QR code on the DS-ADAPT Club’s case. “And now if you only pick two or three, just across the way to get you back to A1 (standard loft and lie), you’ll only need to try maybe two or three, maybe four settings to maximum. »

For example, if you find that you are hitting the ball high and straight, the suggestion is to find the high and straight quadrant (B6), then go to the most extreme setting in the opposite quadrant (F2) and test that one. this and the surrounding three (F1, F3 and G1).

But this method can usually neglect internal parameters, which exhibit changes of only a few tenths of a degree in loft and lie changes. But it was these parameters that were crucial for the Cobra Tour team of players.

“I had to work with the tour crew, film our commercials and do our photo shoot,” Miraflor said. “Now, working with Rickie (Folwer), Lexi (Thompson) and Gary (Woodland) and other players who are now part of the family, you realize they don’t use the outfields at all. So for most golfers who will use the outer circles and these adjustment possibilities, for the best amateurs it will be the one on the inside.

“And for our tour pros, they are the ones that are the tightest. So when we talked to them and said, what would you change about your ball flight, they would point to an inner circle. So now we move to the opposite side.
