Neighbor and cat displaced after Gwinnett County house fire

A neighbor and his cat are safe after Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services say they put out a house fire this afternoon.

Firefighters say they responded to the 1000 block of Brighton Cove Trail NE in Lawrenceville around 12:28 p.m., where they discovered heavy fire in the garage and attic.

As they began to battle the fire, firefighters searched the home where they rescued a cat from a back bedroom, brought it outside and treated it with a pet oxygen mask. company.

Multiple fire hoses were deployed, allowing firefighters to quickly extinguish the fire in approximately 30 minutes. Authorities say the fire caused significant damage to the garage and attic.

However, no one was injured.

The cause of the fire is unknown, but it started near a trash can in the garage. The American Red Cross is assisting homeowners displaced by the fire.
