The Golden State Warriors in panic mode? Star reportedly raises red flag ahead of Christmas Day match

Ahead of their Christmas Day game, the Golden State Warriors are reportedly sounding the alarm after a terrible performance in December.

The Warriors have started the new season well, winning 10 of their first 12 games. The fast start surprised some in the NBA. During the offseason, Golden State lost big Klay Thompson in free agency and rebounded from the loss with several smaller moves to fill out the roster. Instead of going after another star player to help carry the load with Stephen Curry.

At first, it seemed like the front office had struck gold with its revised roster. However, as the holiday season arrived, reality seemed to set in for the Warriors. Since November 23, the team’s season seems to be in a downward spiral as they have lost 11 of their last 14 games.

Golden State fell in the NBA rankings during this period. After looking like an elite team in the West to start the season, the Warriors are just a half-game away from being on the outside of the playoffs heading into the new year.

This is an alarming change in fortunes for the club and it appears desperate times have led to desperate measures on Christmas Day.

“It’s obviously an inflection point in where our season can go,” Stephen Curry said after reportedly calling a players-only meeting before their game on Christmas Day (via ESPN). “Our last 14 games, it’s been difficult trying to find any momentum or consistency, and through that you just can’t lose the spirit and the belief that we’re a good enough team to figure it out because This league is ruthless.

“This league changes from window to window in what you can rely on, and when you dig yourself a hole like that, it can sometimes be difficult to dig yourself out of. So we are in this window where we can still regain some momentum, even if several weeks before the break are crucial, or else (we are) in a situation where we are continuing the home stretch. And no one wants to be there.

Despite his best efforts, 38 points and what appeared to be a game-winning shot in the final seconds, the Golden State Warriors fell to the Los Angeles Lakers on Christmas Day. The NBA legend knows what it takes to win and likely felt that a potential paradigm-shifting moment needed to be created during a difficult stretch over the past month.

The organization has been associated with numerous trade rumors in recent weeks. Their struggles are sure to intensify these speculations in the days to come.
