NFL Betting Tips: Philadelphia Eagles vs. Dallas Cowboys Preview and Picks

The Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys will be forgiven for having other things on their minds when they meet at Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday.

The Eagles have already qualified for the play-offs, as they sit atop the NFC East with a 12-3 record, with two games remaining.

On the other hand, the Cowboys head to Pennsylvania and sit in third place in the NFC East with a losing record and their season will end after their two remaining games.

Philadelphia Eagles win / DeVonta Smith over 0.5 receiving touchdowns / Saquon Barkley over 0.5 rushing touchdowns @ 5/1

The Eagles want to bounce back

After scoring 21 points in the first quarter of last week’s matchup against the Washington Commanders, the Eagles appeared to be headed for a 13th win this season.

Mike McCarthy’s team gave up 22 points in the final quarter to ultimately lose 36-33, despite losing Jalen Hurts early.

The quarterback was injured and was replaced by Kenny Pickett, with Hurts now doubtful for the Cowboys clash.

If he is ruled out, the Eagles will have to decide whether to start with Pickett or Tanner McKee, but one or the other will have to prove their worth with the play-offs on the horizon.

The Cowboys come into this matchup after two wins, against the Buccaneers and the Panthers, but defensively, they have struggled throughout the season.

Only five teams in the league have a worse defensive record than Dallas, giving up 404 points, an average of 26.9 points per game.

Smith can take chances in Endzone

Two Philadelphia players are in the top 40 in league receiving statistics, with AJ Brown 10th and DeVonta Smith 39th.th.

Receiver Smith re-signed in April, but missed three games due to injury earlier in the campaign.

He has leaned into game sharpness in recent weeks, with his best performance of the season coming against the Pittsburgh Steelers two weeks ago.

Smith had 11 receptions for 109 yards and scored a touchdown as the Eagles ran out 27-13 winners at Lincoln Financial Field.

The 26-year-old only received the ball twice in the previous meeting between these teams in early November, when the Eagles won 34-6, but he is much more likely to be targeted more this weekend .

Barkley still the top dog

Saquon Barkley leads the league in rushing statistics, with 1,838 yards to his name after 15 regular season appearances.

The former New York Giants ace averages 5.9 yards per carry and has 13 touchdowns, with Baltimore’s Derrick Henry the only running back to reach the end zone more times.

Barkley had a rare quiet day when these two teams met earlier in the season, rushing for just 66 yards on 14 carries and failing to score a touchdown.

He was back to his best in Washington last week, however, rushing for 150 yards and scoring twice, despite a rare loss for Philadelphia.
