I am a mother of four, pregnant with twins and lost EVERYTHING in a devastating fire – my life was destroyed.

A FAMILY of four with twins on the way have “lost everything” in a devastating fire.

Niamh Wythe, 33, was at work when she received a concerned call from a neighbor saying they could hear an alarm going off and the dog barking at their home in Fleet, Hampshire.

Panicked, Niamh, who was six months pregnant at the time, called her husband Aaron, 35, who was running outside, unaware of the fire engulfing their home.

The mother-of-two revealed how she saw plumes of smoke billowing through the windows when she returned home near the fire.

She told The Sun: “By the time I got there I could see smoke coming out of the windows and everything else.

“I kind of went into panic mode because I knew our dog and cat were still in there.

“I ran up the stairs as quickly as I could, six months pregnant with twins, but when I got up and opened the door, I kind of expected the dog to run away.

“I don’t know what I was thinking. I opened the door and there was just a wall of black smoke.

“It was really very thick and very heavy, you couldn’t see anything. Obviously, I didn’t go any further.”

Luckily, Elizabeth, 6, and Vincent, 4, were at school, but the family’s two cats and dog, Major, were still stuck.

Aaron rushed to save the animals but “we couldn’t see anything,” Niamh said.

She continued: “You kind of just have to stand and watch. I don’t know what else you’re supposed to do.

“So you’re literally watching this happen.”

Niamh remembers the moment the fireman came out after searching the house: “When the fireman took him away, I’ve never been so happy to see his silly little face – I thought ‘you’ve just made me fear’.

“They found all the animals in the master bedroom, the furthest point from the fire, and Major seemed to have laid down on my daughter’s blanket – so he must have found that blanket and stayed there and just waited.” .

The family was unable to return to the house due to the extent of the damage.

Niamh explained: “Even though I knew there would be significant damage, I didn’t expect that I wouldn’t be able to go back, so it was a big blow.

“We lost everything.”

Their clothes, the children’s toys, the couple’s birth certificates, marriage certificate and Aaron’s passport were all missing.

Niamh continued: “You keep all your important documents in one place and that’s where ours were, so we need to make a list to replace all of that.

“Since we don’t have a permanent address yet, it’s quite difficult to replace all the equipment.”

After the fire, the family was immediately moved to a hotel and then to the temporary accommodation they are currently in.

They will never be able to return home again.

Niamh explained how the children handled the situation.

She explained: “She (Elizabeth) has rare times where she gets very upset about some stuff that was left there – not even toys, just stuff and the fact that we can’t go back .

“Because they were in school, it almost feels unfinished: They literally went to school and all of a sudden they can’t go home.”

“They still have their moments where they say ‘oh, we can never go back?’ and I’m not sorry. It hits them at different times.”

For Vincent, the apartment is all he has ever known.

NO PETS

Because they live in temporary accommodation, they cannot let their pets stay with them, which the children find difficult.

Niamh explained: “Some days you sit there and think, God, I just want to go home and it’s so hard not to have a place to call home – I think mentally , it’s quite difficult.”

However, the family felt overwhelmed by the support they received from the local Fleet community.

She said: “It’s so easy to see the negative in everyone all the time and the negative in this world, but actually when something as devastating and life-changing as this happens, people feel are completely behind us and it’s just incredible.

“It really helped us deal with this situation better, because we didn’t feel completely abandoned, isolated or helpless, because everyone was there from the beginning.”

The couple is determined to “make things as stable and normal for the kids,” but it feels like “there aren’t enough hours in the day for everything we need to figure out.”

Especially since they are expecting the arrival of the twins in a few weeks and they are currently staying month by month in temporary accommodation.

Niamh said: “It’s better than week to week! Ideally we would like to be in a permanent place before the twins arrive as they are due at the end of November.

“But we have somewhere warm and safe at the moment, so if we have to have the twins while we’re here, we’ll do it and we’ll make it work – we’ll figure that out along the way.”

Since speaking with The Sun in October, Niamh has given birth to her twins.

They still live in rented accommodation.
