Around 8,000 CAs placed during the campus drive; highest salary at ₹29 LPA: ICAI | Latest news India

A total of 3,002 jobs were offered during the 59th campus placement program held between February and March this year, organized for newly qualified CAs after the completion of the November 2023 exams. Another 4,782 jobs were offered to Newly qualified CAs after the May 2024 examination under the 60th campus placement program conducted between May and June.

The campus placement programs conducted twice a year by ICAI serve as a dynamic bridge between newly qualified chartered accountants (NQCAs) and organizations looking for talent to meet their human resource needs.

The 60th campus placement program set new records with 241 companies participating, compared to 140 for the 59th. Despite higher participation, the highest salary offered ₹26.70 LPA by Power Finance Corporation (PFC) was slightly lower than the 59th record high of ₹29 LPA by Diageo India. However, the average salary fell slightly compared to ₹13.24 LPA in the 59th program for ₹12.49 LPA in the 60th.

“We conduct campus placement drive twice a year for successful CAs during November and May cycles in nine major centers namely Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Mumbai, Delhi and Pune , as well as 20 smaller centers nationwide. Generally, 5,000 to 6,000 CAs obtain jobs per year but in 2024, around 8,000 CAs will be placed in prestigious companies. Usually around 150 companies come to intern on campus in a session, but this year we saw the highest participation of 241 companies per session. The data shows the growing demand for CAs in the job market,” Dheeraj Khandelwal, chairman, Committee of Industry and Business Members (CMI&B), ICAI, told HT.

ICAI will be organizing “Overseas Placement Program for CAs” on January 24-25, 2025. All ICAI members who have obtained membership of the institute on or before October 31, 2023 are eligible to participate in this investment campaign.

“We started the placement of our CAs for companies based in the UAE in 2018. Seeing the requirements of Indian CAs in foreign companies based in all major continents of the world, we decided to organize a placement program at abroad this year as well. Interested candidates must register for the internships, after which recruiters will shortlist them for online interviews. Selected candidates must work abroad,” Khandelwal said.

The ICAI has 52 overseas chapters spread across Africa and the Middle East, Asia, Oceania and Australia, as well as Europe and the United States. The ICAI functions under the administrative control of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MoCA), Government of India. ICAI has over 4,00,000 members and 9,85,000 students across the world and has 176 branches across India.
